Online Productivity Tips
You get the more things done in a specific timeframe when you’re productive.
I remember when I got so many things to do and ended up doing none of them. I caught myself procrastinating and doing analysis or tasks meaningless for my business end goal.
I’ve learned how to be productive and use task management tools.
Create a routine
Not so obvious at the start. But as you do business, identify your objectives and break them into smaller tasks.
Like, one objective is to get 1000 daily blog visits. You need to promote 10 articles that get 100 daily visits.
smaller tasks can be:
- Write one new article.
- Promote that article on social media.
- Create a fresh pin for 5 old articles.
- etc.
Then, do things in batches. You can break the content writing task into keyword research, draft, actual writing, and publishing.
Then, so your mind focuses on one thing, you set a time aside for keyword research and do that only for several articles.
To keep things on track, use a productivity app like Notion.
Prioritize tasks
There are so many things you can do with your time. You won’t be able to do all of them.
Prioritize tasks that have a high impact on your business growth.
Do tasks with the highest priority first when you have the most energy.
Then, set time aside for tasks that take more of your time than you can give.
Let’s say you go to a social platform, and before you know it, you’re in for three hours scrolling. You can block those distracting apps while you’re doing other tasks.
But if you set time to do business on them later, you won’t stress about missing something, and you’ll stay focused on tasks you deemed more important.
Manage your time
Use time management techniques to get more things done in less time.
One excellent technique is Pomodoro. You focus on one task for a short time, usually 25 minutes, then you take a pause (eg, five minutes). You repeat the process, and on the third iteration, you take a longer pause.
You can achieve several things with this technique, such as:
- more focus so you achieve meaningful goals during your work time.
- doing stretching exercises and looking far away during pauses helps to reduce eye and muscle fatigue.
You can install a Pomodoro app on your phone or your computer.
Automate repetitive tasks
Task management will help you identify time-consuming but repetitive business tasks that you can automate.
If you use Notion to organize your tasks, they have an automation feature that can help you.
To automate data entry, use tools that integrate with each other. This minimizes errors we make with manual data entry.
Another option is to delegate.
Examples of repetitive tasks include payroll processing, assigning tasks to collaborators, managing contacts, and sending emails.
Set up a workspace to work comfortably
Working at a dedicated place helps your mind focus on the task. If you’re working on your bed, you can be sleepy instead of working, or you lose sleep by working when you should rest.
Separate work from other activities, and your brain will stay focused when it should.
Now, for your body to follow, pay attention to ergonomics. Use an ergonomic chair and desk while keeping good posture, to avoid muscle pain that will affect how you work.
